North Dallas, Texas is part of the city of Dallas yet to many it seems a world apart. That is because of the real estate, shopping, and everything that North Dallas is all about. In fact, the majority of the state's nine billionaires may be found in the North Dallas area. There are many communities and neighborhoods that make up North Dallas.
North Dallas, Texas Real Estate
The wealthy and upper middle classes live in North Dallas and many of the most prestigious live in Preston Hollow. This neighborhood was once a town known as the land that sits west of the central expressway, east of Midway Road, north of Loop 12, and south of I-635. Although Preston Hollow incorporated itself as a town in 1939 by 1945 it chose to be part of Dallas. Real estate and homes in the neighborhood range from $200,000 to $9 million and many recognizable names call the neighborhood home. For instance, Dallas mayor Laura Miller, Ross Perot, and Mark Cuban live in Preston Hollow. In fact, before George Bush was governor of Texas he and his family also lived in the prestigious neighborhood.
Other neighborhoods in North Dallas include Lake Highlands, Koreatown, Market Center, Stemmons Corridor, Preston Center, and three enclaves that are governed independently. These include University Park, Highland Park, and Addison. North Dallas real estate has risen in price over the past few years and the trend looks like it will continue for some time.
North Dallas Schools
There are many schools in the North Dallas area from public schools to private schools as well as universities. The North Dallas area is part of the Dallas Independent School District that boasts approximately 30 of the 234 schools in the North Dallas area. There are also 30 accredited private schools in the North Dallas area for students to choose from. A variety of colleges and universities also call North Dallas home.
North Dallas Shopping
North Dallas, Texas is also boasts plenty of outstanding shopping. With so many individuals living in the area with buying power there are shopping centers, malls, and the like just waiting to make a sale. Some of the best shopping may be found at Preston Center, Galleria Dallas, and NorthPark Center.
Highways
There are many roads and highways that run through North Dallas, but the bigger ones are US Route 75, Interstate 35 E, Interstate 635, and the Dallas North Tollway.
