Health Care

Carrollton is home to Trinity Medical Center, a fully-accredited, 207-bed full-service hospital and medical complex, with over 355 physicians on staff. The center also includes a pharmacy, a 160-bed skilled nursing facility and the Trinity Easter Seal Society for Children.

Parks and Recreation

With more than 1,230 acres of developed park land, Carrollton's park land per capita is one of the highest in the Metroplex. The city of Carrollton's parks and recreation facilities include numerous playgrounds, playing fields, hiking and biking trails, tennis courts, picnic areas and fishing ponds. Two 18-hole golf courses at the Indian Creek Golf Club in Carrollton have been rated among the top 15 municipal golf courses in the state. Additional facilities include two recreation centers, two public swimming facilities, and an amphitheater.

Shopping and fashion mecca with an eclectic array of gifts features 25 major shopping malls, 30 antique districts and numerous boutiques. Nearby major malls include the Stonebriar Mall, the Dallas Galleria, The Shops At Willow Bend, Vista Ridge Mall and the 1.9 million square foot Grapevine Mills Outlet Mall.

The Name

Most local historians believe Carrollton received its name from the hometown of early settlers, who came from Carrollton, Illinois. The name was officially established on May 16, 1878, when the first U.S. Post Office opened in Carrollton.
